ANNUAL REGIONAL ASSEMBLY 2017
On April 4-8, 2017, the SDS- Philippine Region had its Annual Regional Assembly held at Lebanon Shelter, New Manila, Quezon City. The theme was: Salvatorian Women as Apostles of our Time: Becoming Builders of Communities Towards Communion, Participation and Mission. It began with an Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at 8:00PM on Tuesday and formally opened on April 5, Wednesday with a meaningful Liturgy led by the Silang Formation Community. Sr. Alona Onag, SDS welcomed all the sisters. Various issues were raised each day aside from the Reports presented by communities and individual sisters with their respective ministries. These include financial status of the Region, vocation promotion, formation, Salvatorian School, among others.
The Solidarity Night was enjoyed by everyone bringing the whole house down! A Closing Liturgy prepared by the New Manila community officially ended the Assembly.
ANNUAL RETREAT 2017
The Regional Annual Retreat was held on March 27 to April 2, 2017. The venue this year was the Good Shepherd Sisters' Maryridge Retreat House in Tagaytay City. All the members of the Region were present. It was a great blessing to have A Salvatorian priest, Fr. Peter Schuessler, SDS from the SDS- US province to facilitate the said spiritual journey. The theme of the retreat was, "Walking with Fr. Francis Jordan". Fr. Peter made the Spiritual Diary of Fr. Jordan alive each day as the Sisters did reflect on selected passages from it.
We thank God for this period of grace-a time to rest, commune intimately with the Savior and offer thanksgiving for all blessings received the whole year. The good Lord nourishes and sustains us!
138TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF BLESSED MARY OF THE APOSTLES & BLESSING OF THE PDO
The 138th Birthday of the co-foundress of the Congregation in the Philippine Region was celebrated in a special way that included the participation of the mission partners and friends. The Holy Mass was the highlight of it and blessing of the Philanthropic Development Office (PDO) both officiated by Fr. Albert Poblete, OFM. Sr. Alona Onag, SDS, regional superior, together with Mr. Johny Liao, one of SDS faithful donors cut the ceremonial ribbon. Mrs. Baby Escalona inspired those who were present with her sharing about generosity. She is one of the generous donors of the Region and knows very well that the resources come from God and are meant to be shared with those who are less fortunate. Another speaker is a former SDS scholar, Agnes Canayon who now enjoys a good career and supports the mission of the sisters. She was very grateful for her experiences. The office is located at the ground floor of the Lebanon Shelter Bldg. With simple snacks prepared by the sisters to share with the people, the event was meaningful and solemn.
