REGIONAL CHAPTER & ASSEMBLY 2012

The Regional Chapter & Assembly was held from February 10-12, 2012 at the Lebanon Shelter Conference Room, New Manila, Quezon City. All sisters were present except Sr. Ma. Elisa Ranises who is presently on a mission in Rumania. The theme was: “Salvatorian Women: Mystical and Prophetic in our DSC06491Suffering World”.

Sr. Irma Caumeran, SDS, regional superior, formally opened the Assembly and delivered a warm and inspiring welcome message. Sr. Mary Adeline Abamo was the first day’s facilitator followed by Sr. Alona Onag on the 2nd day. Sr. Eloisa Holdiem, new regional secretary, busily documented the whole program and activities.

Sr. Irma gave a report on the State of the Region while assigned sisters presented the Evaluation Report of their respective communities. This was to show the lights and shadows of the various aspects of religious and community life.

Some sisters were able to share the strengths and weaknesses, opportunities of their apostolates. SPCC in particular has to be presented 3 times as there are now 3 SPCC entities: SPCC-Quezon City, SPCC-Cebu and SPCC- National Office.

Bishop Teodoro Buhain, DD was the facilitator during the Chapter proper beginning in the afternoon of the 2nd day. This was to prepare the sisters and help them write the responses of the region for the pre-Chapter questions sent by the Generalate previously. Only those items chosen by the assembly were to be forwarded to Rome. Bishop Ted likewise led the group into a serious discernment in silence and prayer. After this was the election of the delegates for the XX General Chapter. The Chapter from preparation to final voting lasted for almost 2 days. Sr. Irma as regional superior is ex-officio delegate while those elected were Sr. Alona as 2nd delegate and Sr. Ma. Whelita as sub delegate.

There was enough time for everyone to share, to spend time in prayer and discernment. There was also some enjoyment especially on the last day after supper, the “Solidarity Night”. It was a night to remember as the sisters all let their hair down and simply enjoyed the night wearing amazing and interesting costumes.

The Chapter & Assembly was a time to be grateful to God for all the blessings received by the Region and to look forward to the General Chapter in Rome in November 2012.
